Kingsbarns Golf Links today. Kingsbarns is a short, 20-minute drive south of St. Andrews. Golf has been played on the Kingsbarns site since 1793. Rebuilt and opened in 2000, the course has view of the North Sea from nearly every hole. A fantastic layout with incredible views. Hole 12 was rated the best par 5 in the UK this year. A great, modern links course. ‘Best of’ votes for most of the group.
For our round, the weather was pleasant with intermittent showers – no problemo. Our caddy, Will, was a young, 2-year student at the university in St. Andrews with a ‘1’ handicap. Outstanding.
Dinner was at the Adamson Restaurant in St. Andrews. Mary and I enjoyed a great meal there on my 60th birthday a few years ago and this evening’s meal was as good as remembered. Tonight, we struck up a conversation with a group of guys at the table next to us. Turns out one of the gents was a fellow golfer hit in the head by an errant drive in the fairway in front of us on the Old Course yesterday! He held up play for a good 20 minutes while we waited for the ambulance to clear.
