Today was our last day playing the St. Andrews Trust courses and we’re in for 36 holes. First up is the Castle Course. It’s the newest of the Trust courses being only 10 years old. Amazing location, on a clifftop overlook the North Sea and St. Andrews. Crazy greens and a caddy straight out of ‘Caddyshack’ made for a memorable round. No disrespect intended of Aaron, the caddy – he was a big help but clearly marches to a different drummer.
In the afternoon we headed back to St. Andrews and were able to secure a time on the New Course (it’s ‘new’ alright having opened in 1895). The New Course is one of the local favorites and justifiably so. It’s a great track with views of the town and beaches.
We finished up the New Course as the sun set and carried our clubs the ½ mile back to our hotel in town. As we passed West Beach (where the beach running scene from ‘Chariots of Fire’ was filmed) there were what appeared to be wild horses playing in the sand. Weird.
So – we’ve played all five of the full-length St. Andrews Trust courses: New, Old, Jubilee, Eden, & Castle in three days of golf. Not bad for a bunch of old farts!

Dick scored ‘Champ’ points for the best net round. Best shot on the Castle goes to Bill with his beautiful approach shot on the scary 18th hole to set up a birdy. Bill also had the best shot on the New Course with a 185 yard approach shot on #12.
> Today: lost balls (both courses) – 19; bunkers – 18
> Group totals for trip: lost balls – 96; bunkers – 131

Absolutely beautiful. Can’t believe the pony’s. Ron was looking kind of serious there for a while.
