Well, it’s over now. Bill, Don, & Ron are back in Pittsburgh and I’ve hooked up with Mary in France for a few weeks. Time to rest some weary bones.
It’s fair to say we had a great Scottish experience. We played some of the greatest courses in the world, had some interesting non-golf activities, met some wonderful folk, generously sampled the national drink, and braved the fearsome Scottish climate. Actually, we lucked out big-time with the weather, only having a few days of wind & rain.
Final stats for the 17 days:
> 14 rounds of golf – Old Moray, Nairn, Castle Stuart, Brora, Tain, Royal Dornoch, Cruden Bay, St. Andrews Jubilee, St. Andrews Eden, St. Andrews Old, Kingsbarns, St. Andrews Castle, St. Andrews New, & Crail Balcomie
> 252 holes played
> 51 course miles walked
> 100 balls lost (that’s for the group, not just me!)
> 143 ‘unique’ bunkers – doesn’t count multiple shots to exit (that would bump up the stat big-time!)
Cheers!
p.s. If you’d like to keep up with Mary & I while we’re in southern France, pictures will be posted in our travel blog: www.dickandmarysmith.com
