An early tee time today (7:44) for our round at the St. Andrews ‘Jubilee Course’. Jimmy, our host at the hotel, has packed us a sack breakfast and we walked the ½ mile to the course.
It’s rainy for the front nine but clears up very nicely after we make the turn. Again, we are blessed with a great caddy. We finish the round in 3 hrs, 20 minutes. Caddy David thinks that the fastest round for a 4-ball group he’s worked with on the Jubilee.
After lunch at the Jubilee house, we took a shopping walk abound St. Andrews to replenish golf balls & malt stash. St. Andrews is a beautiful medieval burgh with most of the attractions within walking distance – the ruined castle & ruins and a very nice walking path along ‘the scores’ & waterfront. Later, Bill took honors in a spirited test on the Himalaya putting course.
> Winner of today’s ‘Stableford Match’ were Bill & Ron who are each awarded a ‘Champ Mòr’ point.
> Ron takes low daily honors with a net score of ‘73’
> Best shot of the day goes to Dick with a 80-yard hilltop pitch, heavy rough to the green – #15.
> Today: lost balls – 3; bunkers – 10
> Group totals for trip: lost balls – 51; bunkers – 79
