A short drive from our resort is the Sky Mountain course. It’s quite a setting with red and white sandstone cliffs, black lava formations, and desert vistas. Incredibly enough, I lost a ball to a water hazard – on a desert course no less.
The game for the day is ‘Twinsies’. This version is stroke play with two man teams. The team score is the combined net score of both players. We have an odd number of players so one of the teams is using a ‘blind man’ who is randomly selected at the end of the round.
> Kevin & Dick vs. Will & Tom – Will & Tom win, net 160
> Ed & Mike vs. Jerry & Ron – Ed & Mike win, net 158
> Terry & Jeff vs. Bill & Blind Man – Bill & Blind Man Ed win, net 157
Our second round of the day was on the Sand Hollow ‘Wee’ course – basically, a chip & putt. The game was also ‘Twinsies’, but this time with match scoring. One twist was the introduction of a ‘Gilligan’ where each player gets one option to force an opponent to replay a stroke. Lots of whining.
> Ron & Will vs. Bill & Ed – Bill & Ed win
> Jerry & Tom vs. Kevin & Jeff – Jerry & Tom win
> Blind & Mike vs. Terry & Dick – Terry & Dick win
We started a daily tradition of breakfast at the resort restaurant (pretty good!). Dinner & libation was just down the road at the Stagecoach Grill.
