This year’s trip takes us to the red rock landscape surrounding the town of St. George in southern Utah. We’re staying at the Sand Hollow Resort in the nearby community of Hurricane.
Five rounds are scheduled on 18-hole championship courses – Sky Mountain, Copper Rock and Sand Hollow in Hurricane; Ledges in St. George; and Coral Canyon in Washington. For those arriving early on Sunday we’ve scheduled a round on the 9-hole ‘Links’ course at Sand Hollow. We also have rounds scheduled for the nine-hole, ‘Wee’ course at the resort. Here’s a course map and listing: St. George ’26

The field: Mike, Ed, Dick, Bill, Kevin, Jeff, Will, Tom, Terry, Jerry, Ron
The airborne Pittsburgh contingent departed PIT on a 5:40 AM flight (yikes) arriving in Las Vegas early Sunday morning (7:30 Mountain Time). The drive from LAS to St. George was a little over 2 hours. We stopped at a Walmart in Nevada to stock up our alcohol reserves (no hard sales on Sundays in Utah), then ‘George’s Corner’ for breakfast before checking into our rental units. Tom, Jeff and Kevin flew directly into St. George airport later Sunday afternoon.
This outing’s competition format will be a series of team matches. The field has been divided into three teams: Chico, Harpo, & Groucho. Prizes go to the winning team, plus the individual champ for the week. To infuse a spirit of competition amongst the groups lodging assignments are based on teams – see below.
- Chico: Jerry, Will, Ron, Tom
- Harpo: Ed, Bill, Mike, ‘Blind Man’
- Groucho: Kevin, Dick, Terry, Jeff
Some of the group played 9-holes at the resort ‘Links’ course. Kevin & Mike took low net honors for their foursomes.
Let the games begin!
