We’re heading up to Birmingham after golf today so it’s an early checkout at the hotel after breakfast before our round on Capital Hill’s Senator course.
The Senator is a links-style course with over 140 pot bunkers, large mounds and tall grass framing the fairways. A big change from the Judge. That’s a good thing!
Our game for the day is a four-man Stableford format. Foursome vs. foursome. Each foursome has a ‘quota’ of points. The team with the highest number of Stableford points scored relative to their quota wins the match.
> Team 1 – Don, Sarge, Ron, Mike
> Team 2 – Brian, Tom, Dick, Ed
> Team 3 – Jerry, Bill, Chip, Terry
> Team 3 was the only one who exceeded their quota and took the win with four points. Team 2 ended up with ‘-7’ points, team 3 with ‘-12’.
After our round we drove the hour-and-half ride up to Birmingham, checked into our hotel in Hoover and found our way to Grimaldi’s Pizza for dinner. Big rain forecast for overnight. Drat.
