There are three 18-hole courses at the Capitol Hill complex in Prattville. We’re playing two, the ‘Judge’ and ‘Senator’. The third course, the ‘Legislature’, is closed for renovation this season.
We might have started our trip on the wrong course of the two. Whew – the Judge was one tough course. The opening hole is incredible with a 200 foot drop to the fairway with woods on the left & water on the right. Fourteen holes run along the Alabama River, the fairways are narrow, and there’s an island green (with a unique drop zone!).

Our game for the day was ‘Twinsies’, a two-man, match play format where team members play as partners. Each player plays their own ball tee to green. The team score is the combined score of both golfers. The team with the lowest team score wins each hole and the team winning the most holes takes the match.
> Match 1 – Dick & Terry vs. Ron & Sarge
> Match 2 – Don & Brian vs. Bill & Mike
> Match 3 – Jerry & Tom vs. Chip & Ed
> Dick & Terry up +2 in Match 1
> Don & Brian up 4 with 3 to go in Match 2
> Chip & Ed up + 2 in Match 3
Our quest to properly celebrate Cinco de Mayo failed miserably. Dinner & libation at Jim & Nick’s BBQ near our hotel made for a good substitution.
