Wow – Dunbar! I really thought this course would be our trip’s favorite. It has a great pedigree – laid out in 1856 and worked on by Old Tom, Ben Sayers, and James Braid and is a qualifying course for the Open and has hosted many international championships.
The narrow track runs between a sandstone estate wall and the rocky shoreline. Wind is always a factor. What should have been spectacular water views were obscured by what the Scots call ‘haar’ – a dense, cold sea fog. We could hear the water but only had a few visuals. Such a shame. Kevin and Mike had some great shots – Kevin from the beach, Mike from a ‘kelp lie’. Our caddy, Woody, was a little different to say the least but kept us on the right path and found our wayward balls!
