After breakfast, we departed the Crystal Mountain Resort for the 3-hour drive to Bath (near East Lansing) for our final round of the trip at the Eagle Eye course. We tried to get a round in at Eagle Eye in 2022 but were monsooned out. Check with Mr. Gagliano if you’d like a blow-by-blow on the rainout. The stuff of legend.
Eagle Eye was designed by Chris Lutzke, in collaboration with Pete Dye and is s another ‘Top 100’ course. It is a links style championship golf course with Dye-influenced railroad ties and some great par fives to finish up each of the 9’s. The signature hole is the 17th, a Sawgrass-inspired island green replica.
Our final main game of the trip is ‘Joker Stableford’ where Stableford points are awarded based on a player’s net score for each hole. The ‘Joker’ part of the game refers to double points awarded on holes preselected as jokers. The side game is ‘Three Ugly Sisters’ where each player is allowed to drop the scores for the three worst holes of the round. Lowest net score wins.

Sarge made a furious charge on the last day winning both the main and side games making him the ‘Grand Champion’ for the trip. Congrats Sarge!
After checking in at the East Lansing Hampton Inn we dined at the ‘Hop Cat’ restaurant near the University. The next morning Sarge caught a flight back to Florida and the rest of us headed back to Pittsburgh.
Another nice trip!
