After breakfast we checked out of the Weathervane and departed Charlevoix for the 2-hour drive down Lake Michigan coast for play on the South Course.
The Arcadia South course is another in the ‘Top 100 You Can Play’. Although it is quite close to Lake Michigan and one mile south of the lake-side Bluffs course, there are no water views. The routing is two, distinct nine-hole loops with few trees, wide-open fairways, squared-off (and massive!) greens and sharply angled bunkers.
The main game is ‘Win, Place, & Show’ where individual points are assigned for 1st thru 3rd place scores. The side game is ‘Mutt & Jeff’ where the lowest net sum of the par 3 and par 5 holes determines the winner.
It’s a sweep by Dick who took both the main and side games. Inspired play!
Our lodging for the next two evenings is at the Crystal Mountain Resort in Thompsonville where we’ve rented a ‘Mountainside’ condo. We stopped at the ‘Grill 44’ roadside restaurant in Bear Lake for dinner on the way to the condo. Wings & pizza special!
